Whenever a new catalogs debuts, there are a couple of things that I do to prepare myself to use the new in-colors.
Many, many years ago I started my own color wheel. At that time I had my cardstock organized by color (remember the rainbow song,,,”red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue…I can sing a rainbow…..” ) but it was getting difficult to differentiate the subtle differences in color. So, I inventoried all the colors and created the wheel by trimming a piece to 5.5″ x 4.25.” I write the name in the upper left and then mark when it retired.
They are held together by a jump ring. With the addition of the 2017-19 In-colors, I estimate I’m up to 100 colors or so.
When the uninked Stampin’ Spots debuted in the 2016 catty, I was beyond thrilled. I use them when travelling and they are perfect for the MISTI tool (our regular pads can get ink on the tool’s cover which then gets on my art piece…the spots give me more control). While I had some spots from Paper Pumpkin, I now have a spot in every color!
Beautiful You debuted in the Winter/Spring, 2017 catalog and is one of my all-time favorites. I see so many women who I know in that set. Whether it’s the sophisticated woman styling her dress with her hat tipped just perfectly or the carefree woman with her arms opened wide, there is an image for everyone. Here are a couple of the cards I created so far with this versatile beauty.
Two special someones are graduating this year.
Clare earned her Bachelor’s degree after lots of hard work. She has a wonderful future before her and there is no better card to tell her so. The carefree woman from Beautiful You is sporting her graduation cap as she looks into her future.
Noah has always been fascinated with the military and will likely enroll in a ROTC program when he enters college this fall. I CASE’d Kelly Acheson (A Stamp Above) with this camouflage card. Kelly used a direct to paper approach which I could not master so I used the baby wipe style with Sahara Sand, Old Olive, Always Artichoke and Early Espresso. The Large Number Framelits, topped off with a graduation cap, create the perfect graduation memory.
These are not colors I would typically choose to use together even though they make their way individually into many of my projects. The Global Design Project Challenge #089 prompted me to try these colors!
The Remarkable You stamp set works well with almost any color combination.
My hands down favorite set for sentiments is Bunch of Blossoms. I love how the sentiment fit perfectly in the circle which is mounted on the stitched framelit and then again on the scalloped circle.
The Calypso Coral paper comes from the Daisy Delight Designer Paper Pack.
